Sephora Event Must-Haves

The Sephora event is here! Rogue members get 20% off with ‘HEYROGUE’ April 26 – May 6, VIB members get 15% off with ‘HEYVIB’ May 2 – May 6 and Insiders (aka everyone who doesn’t spend $350 a year at Sephora) get 10% off with code ‘HEYINSIDER’. Wanted to post this a little early for some of you who are interested.

This may not seem like a huge discount but it really adds up! So I wanted to share some of my favorite items from Sephora and what I’ll be grabbing during the sale.

One quick note about Sephora. They will give you as many free samples as you want at any time and the samples are usually big enough to use for about a week. Just ask one of the associates if you can get a few samples of things and they will help you out! I ALWAYS take advantage of the samples then I’ll go back in the store and purchase or order online once I’ve really decided.

What I’ll Be Buying

  • It Cosmetics CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ – I have been looking at this for a while and I got a sample of it from Sephora about a week ago and have been using it nearly every day. It’s lightweight but a good amount of coverage and it has 50 UVA/UVB SPF!!! And you know I love me some SPF! Fun fact about CC vs BB cream. CC stands for color correcting and BB stands for beauty balm. So any CC cream will have a little more coverage.
  • Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder – I also got this as a sample last week to see what I thought about it and I am obsessed. For one it smells amazing and it really blurs your skin and leaves you looking flawless. I’ll be getting the color ‘Butter’.
  • Anastasia DIPBROW® Gel – I use Anastasia products every single day of my life and I freaking love everything from this brand so I know this will be no exception. I couldn’t get a sample of this but did give it a try in the store and was very pleased. It will add some color to your brows and make them stay in place. I’m getting the Medium Brown color.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Cheek To Chic Blush in Pillow Talk – I have seen SO many people rave about this blush and I am ready to bite the bullet. It looks so pretty and I’m in need of some new blush.

What I Own and Love

  • FRESH Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil – I have had this for about 5 months and it has been a game changer! I never understood how important moisturizing your skin was but now I’m a grease ball every night before bed and my skin is loving it haha. It’s definitely shiny but it really freaking works.
  • Laneige Lip Mask – If you haven’t heard of this, you live under a rock and you don’t deserve perfectly smooth and wonderful lips :).
  • Anastasia Clear Brow Gel – If you don’t need any color on your brows but they get a little cray sometimes, this is for you! This gel will keep your brows in place all day long!
  • NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – This is lightweight and really great! I almost always use my Tarte Shape Tape but on days where I just need a little something to brighten my eyes, I use this and it’s perfect.
  • Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer in Natural Bronze – This bronzer is a beautiful color and goes on really nicely! Plus I like the small compact size of it.
  • Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 – I have had this for almost 2 years and when my skin is crazy dry or I just need a little color, this is my go to “foundation”. It really doesn’t have like any coverage but great to build powder on the top of if you want more!
  • Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturizer – This is Holy Grail. It comes out white and you put it on to give you a small amount of color and wow it’s so great! I love wearing it when I’m feeling ultra white and just want some color on my skin and mascara and it does a world of difference. YOU. NEED. THIS.
  • Tan Luxe THE GRADUAL Illuminating Gradual Tan Lotion – This stuff is just great. I have truly never had streaks or weird lines when I put this stuff on and that is a game changer. It doesn’t smell bad AT ALL. I can legit put it on before I go to work and I don’t smell it. It is super gradual which is nice to keep a good base color but if you are wanting something quick and dark, this isn’t that. I rub in a light layer with my hands, go back over it with a mitt, wash my hands then take the mitt and run the excess over the tops of my hands.

My Skincare Routine

Hey guys, this is my skincare routine as of late! I want to be very clear that this is what works for me but it may not be what works for everyone so be sure to ask a skincare professional what will work best for your skin.

I do a few different things in the morning vs at night and I go into detail with every step and product below. Please let me know if you have questions!

A little background, last fall I got TERRIBLE hormonal acne. I have never had acne in my life and I legit didn’t know what to do. I tried several things and nothing was working on the cystic acne I was experiencing. Granted, I wasn’t doing my proper research and if something didn’t work right away, I would give up.

Before this, I could sleep in my makeup, hardly ever wash my face and I would never have acne. Maybe one pimple every other month.

Starting in December 2018, I became much more consistent with my routine which IS SO IMPORTANT!!!! And with consistency came results!

Night Time Routine

I’ll be linking everything at the bottom of this post!

1. MAKEUP ERASER!

Guys. I will die on this freaking hill. Makeup wipes have so many chemicals and dry out your skin and they’re so bad for you. Not to mention, they totally do NOT get all your makeup off. I stopped using makeup wipes (which I used every day before) after Christmas and my skin is so much better. I do not know what kind of magic is in this makeup eraser but wow. It takes off all of my face makeup and eye makeup without a problem. Keep in mind I have like 3 layers of mascara on so that is saying something! I just run warm water and press it on my eye and then it just rubs off gently. To clean it, I will pour some Micellar water on it and hang it to dry. Even the aesthetician could not sing her praises loud enough for these amazing things! She said she has tried the off brand ones and they aren’t as good. Spend that $20 and thank me later. (Also, shout out to my aunt for getting me this for Christmas after seeing it on The View! haha)

2 & 3. Acne Cleanser & Spot Treatment

After trying several drugstore brands and nothing helping, I bought a 30-day Murad Acne Cleanser kit. However, I actually bought three because they were on super sale haha. This really worked so well for my skin. There are 5 mini products and they last way longer than 30 days. Start with a cleanser, then I put an acne serum all over my face, then spot treatment. I will use my Clarisonic a few times a week at night when I use this cleanser as well. This will absolutely not work for everyone but after a month of using it consistently, I saw major improvements! Note: if you don’t struggle with acne, just use your regular cleanser in place of this!

4. Moisturizer

My face was SO freaking dry this past winter. Like texture and flaky dry (sorry, TMI). I was legit putting coconut oil on my face every night in hopes of it getting better and it just wasn’t. Then I found this stuff! I have used it every day, twice a day (at least) for 3 months and it is freaking amazing. Not to mention it’s so affordable! This has no scent and is good for all skin types.

5. Lip Mask

I have raved about this lip mask before but I’m back to talk about it more. I use this twice a day every day and I can’t live without it!

6. Face Oil

Back to my comments about my face being so insanely dry that it actually hurt! I decided to invest in this. I read a few bloggers that said it was amazing then I asked the Sephora employee about it and she highly recommended it. Then I bought it. It’s a little pricey but wow so worth it. It also makes your skin kind of shiny/oily looking but your skin soaks that up while you sleep and all problems are solved!!! Just take my advice that this face oil is amazing and definitely need it!

Morning Routine

1. Cleanser

I use this cleanser in the morning because it isn’t as harsh/doesn’t dry out my skin like acne cleansers do. Plus this smells amazing and it’s medical grade so it’s great for your skin! This will give your skin a fresh palette to apply makeup and get all of the dirt/leftover product off from the night before.

2. Cucumber Gel Eye Patches

I don’t use these every morning but when I do my under eyes look SO MUCH BETTER! I keep them in the fridge so they are cold and they immediately plump and hydrate my under eyes to get rid of those dark and swollen circles. I will leave these on while I fix my hair and everything I do before I start my makeup.

3. Moisturizer

Same moisturizer that I put on at night! This is great for under your makeup. I read up a lot on how to apply makeup to dry skin and this was the best moisturizer to use before applying makeup. It really has been amazing!

4. SPF!!

This is SO FREAKING IMPORTANT, guys! SPF every single day! If you are leaving your house, you need SPF. End of story. I like to someone combine the SPF I use into another step so I am more likely to remember. Right now my $10 primer has SPF in it so I am good to go. I will put this on before I start my makeup to smooth out my skin. I am also looking into the EltaMD moisturizer/SPF!

5. Lip Mask

I just freaking love this product so much. On the days when I wear lipstick, this is amazing to really prep my lips before (I’ll just wipe the excess off before lipstick). But usually I just wear this as lip gloss/chapstick during the day.

6. Makeup

Then I put my makeup on! Believe me, I know that all of these steps are not ideal and I’m not one to enjoy all of the steps but it’s SO WORTH IT!

A few more notes…

  • Moisturizing is the most important thing you can do. Morning, night, every moment in between. Keep your skin hydrated.
  • Consistency is key! Stick with something for long enough to it to make an impact!
  • Figure out what is best for YOUR skin. I am so bad about seeing a pretty blogger and just copying what she does but everyone’s skin is different. Take the time to get answers about your specific skin.
  • I do not know everything about skincare but this has worked for me. Defintely recommend these products but I cannot promise they will work for you.

If you read this entire post, you deserve something nice. Thanks for reading along and I hope this helps!

If this post convinces you to make a purchase, I ask that you please consider purchasing through one of my links! That way I can use the $2 I’ll make to keep sharing posts like this in the future! 🙂

2017 Favorite Purchases

I am seeing all of these “Favorite 2017 Purchases” posts by other bloggers sharing what their most popular items and favorite items were from last year so I wanted to share mine as well! None of these lists are in any particular order. Just throwing that out there.

Hair/Beauty Purchases

  1. Beachwaver 1.25 curling iron – Every time I shared this, more people bought it. If you got yourself one, what do you think? I still LOVE mine and I get compliments on my curls constantly. Plus, the process is so much easier with the spinning barrel. Tbh, first world problems, but I took a cheap curling iron to Europe that DIDN’T spin and it was a hassle.
  2. T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i Hairdryer – My highest selling product this year. I got it on SUPER sale from Hautelook, which is no longer available, but I would still recommend. If you got one, what do you think so far? I just got mine in and used it the other night and it was amazing. It doesn’t hurt that it’s beautiful!
  3. Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow – I got a ton of DMs about this stuff when I posted it on my IG stories and I cannot say enough good things! It comes out white, then it blends into your skin leaving a beautiful glow. I will wear it alone or I’ll put it on, use concealer and setting powder and I’m ready to go! It’s also super hydrating. One of my fave bloggers, Brighton Keller, shared about it and I had to give it a try. *Side note: follow her on Instagram, She’s a boss*

Fashion – Clothes, Shoes, Bags

  1. Madewell purse – yall have heard about this enough by now haha but needless to say, this bag is amazing. It has been all over the world and it holds SO MUCH STUFF.
  2. Marc Fisher Chelsea Boot – wow I have worn these so much. And these are on sale right now. Do I need another color?! Because I am heavily considering these bad boys.
  3. Spanx Leather Leggings – these are fan-freaking-tastic. They suck you in but aren’t restricting. You can wear them dressed up or down and you can wear them literally anywhere. I have worn mine with Uggs and a pullover and I’ve worn them with a super dressy outfit and they’re great for both. Worth every penny. Also, side note, apparently the Commando brand ones are awesome, too!
  4. Barefoot dreams cardigan – (I have this one in black with the hood) gosh this brand is the BEST in the world. If you like soft clothes or blankets, this is a MUST. There are a ton of styles and colors so pick your poison but know you will be obsessed. Here it is without the hood and it’s marked down!
  5. Madewell Whisper Cotton V Neck – still stand by these like no one’s business and I have my fair share of v necks so I have tested several.
  6. Marc Fisher Wedge Platform – these go with everything, they have beautiful colors, the quality is great and they are super comfortable! A few other places to buy them here, here and here.
  7. Lulu Lemon Align Pants – I guess technically I got these at the end of 2016, but they are still rocking and I lowkey want to buy about 14 more pairs of them but don’t have to because the quality is holding up like a CHAMP. I am going to rant about these on my Insta stories soon because I could live and die in these. Literally, bury me in these pants.

Gadgets

  1. Bose QuietComfort ii wireless headphones – bought these in December (so, technically end of 2017). But judging by how much I loved my wired ones for the past few years and the time I have used these so far, I am OBSESSED. They are so freaking comfortable. Also, the sound quality is top notch and they look really cool.
  2. iPhone X – I freaking love this thing. I love the size (doesn’t feel like a tablet in my hand), the battery life, the CAMERA is next level, just all around 5/5 stars for this.
  3. Sound Machine – I have slept with this thing every single night since I bought it last January. Not exaggerating, I even travel with it. Talk about a good use of my money haha.
  4. Sony a6000 Mirrorless Camera – I have loved having this camera. I enjoy learning how to use it and I even bought a new lens for higher quality pics. And planning on investing in at least one more lens soon! Stay tuned.

Experiences

Let’s not kid ourselves, all of this material stuff is great and fun. But, want to know what is better? Experiences. Traveling, seeing the world, visiting your friends, seeing concerts and everything in between. My 2017 year was epic and I have really tried to share everything from weekends at the lake to touring the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio in London with everyone. I hope 2018 is just as great ast 2017 if not BETTER. So far, I am looking forward to several things that I can’t wait to share with you all. Stay tuned and stay cool.

Beauty Hair

All of my Hair Secrets

Hey everyone! So, I always get questions about my hair. How I curl it, how often I have to wash it, what products I use, etc. I haven’t done an update on the products, tools, and practices I use, so I thought I would share what I’m currently doing.

How often do I wash my hair?

If you are a person who washes your hair religiously every day, or if you are a boy, you are going to no doubt think this is gross haha. But, I wash my hair 1-2 times a week. I have done this for as long as I can remember. When you have a ton of hair, the blow drying process is basically a lifetime. Also, my scalp has never produced a lot of oil (thankful for that). Before dry shampoo was a thing, I maybe had to (or should have) washed my hair more, but with dry shampoo, on the 3rd through *sometimes* the fifth day, I use that as well as root plumper stuff to help out! Anyway, if you are someone who washes their hair every day, you should really start slowly washing it less (or at least not using shampoo as often because it strips your hair). That is my two cents, for what it’s worth!

What products do I use?

For the last year or so I have been using MoroccanOil shampoo and conditioner and it’s been great! I love the smell, it’s not crazy expensive and my hair reacts well to it. But I am almost out of my current shampoo and I think I am going to buy the Alterna Caviar moisture duo. I have heard great things about this. Also, one of my most trusted sources, Emily Gemma from thesweetestthingblog.com uses this and her hair is beautiful! Apart from shampoo and conditioner, I will use a hair mask maybe twice a month (depending on how my hair feels and acts, maybe more) in place of conditioner. When I get out of the shower, I use the It’s a 10 spray and I can tell you right now, if the apocalypse happened, I’d have to go buy 10 bottles of this stuff because I refuse to even attempt to brush my hair without spraying this first haha. Also, I use Batiste dry shampoo, Davines Oi oil and Big Sexy Hair powder play volumizer – this stuff is amazing AND it’s on sale right now!

What tools do I swear by?

I wish I could say that I try not to use too many hot tools on my hair and I take great and wonderful care of it, but that’d be a lie. So, first off, I have a Chi blow dryer that I bought a few years ago on sale. Up until this dryer, I’d always used a Walmart brand one. Which are great, don’t get me wrong, but I wanted to get one that would be a little better for my hair. This one has less heat and is just better for your hair. *Honestly, idk that is just what I read somewhere, probably like Wikipedia or Cosmo. I really just tornado dry it almost all the way then let it air dry the rest of the way. Finally, I brush it using a Wet Brush (holy grail).

Then, I have the Beachwaver 1.25 that I use as my curling iron. You guys, I won’t ever use a curling iron again where I have to actually twist my arm, (the horror?!) I literally clip in the end of my hair, push the correct arrow and the BARREL SPINS ITSELF. I know, sounds lazy, but the convenience is next level haha. Before this, I used a wand, but saw that this was used for the Victoria’s Secret models and I mean…if the shoe fits? Lol jk. But, as far as “tools” go, that is really all I use. Pretty simple!

What is my routine?

Brush your hair BEFORE getting in the shower. Can’t say this enough. My hairdresser says to put shampoo in your hair when it’s sopping wet for best results. And conditioner in when it’s a little dryer/not slicked down to your head. I put my hair up in a towel (nothing fancy about that but whatevs) for about 10-15 minutes then I use It’s a 10. I use about 200 sprays of this each time (lol) and gently brush through my hair. Now, I’m not tender headed whatsoever, but I also don’t like ripping all my hair out haha. And there isn’t an amount of this stuff that has ever been “too much” in my opinion so the more the merrier.

Then I let my hair air dry for as long as possible, which I really recommend! Next, I’ll add the Davines Oi all over and blow-dry using a brush occasionally to keep it tame. Usually, this is right before I go to bed, so I don’t blow dry it all the way. I leave it damp, wrap it up with a scrunchie, put it on top of my head and go to sleep.

The next morning, I use my wet brush and blow dry it a little more because it’s it still damp/cold. Then I will put half my hair on top of my head, part it down the middle and use my curling iron to curl each section. Taking the other half down when ready and doing the same. Since it’s so clean at this point, I’ll usually just add a little hairspray and let it do its thing.

At night, I twist it into a bun with a scrunchie, put it on top of my head and sleep soundly. A lot of times I can wake up, take it down and be ready to go. Sleeping with it tied up helps the curls last and it won’t get oily as quickly! Day 2-4, depending on the weather, my schedule, etc. is when I use dry shampoo and the volumizer as needed! You know your hair best, so just use these products where you feel necessary!

Really, that is all. I honestly was just kind of blessed with long, strong hair. I have no real secret tips to share with anyone other than the normal process of it all! Hope this helps anyone looking for new tools, tips or tricks and let me know if you have any questions!

Sale Roundup – Fall, Outerwear & Beauty

Hi! I wanted to put together a big sale roundup post for everyone. Some of these sales are actually ending today, so don’t wait!

The Sephora sale is a must. I didn’t picture any of the items above, but they are linked below. These are things I buy again and again, can’t live without. Also, a great time to stock up on gifts for your friends, sisters, and moms for Christmas! I will be posting Thanksgiving outfit ideas and gift guides this week so stay tuned!

A few things to point out…

  • The plaid shirt in the graphic is seriously SO SOFT! I got a small and I’m really excited. Also, I buy all my underwear from Aerie now. It is way better quality than Victoria’s Secret and with the sale, it is priced better. Highly recommend.
  • The white sneakers pictured are my fave white sneakers. I wore them all over Europe and they go with everything.
  • The burgundy sherpa pullover runs a little big, so be sure to size down. I got an XS!
  • All of the products I have from Sephora are linked below. I am low key (high key) obsessed with all things Anastasia brand.
All of the links in the graphic above are clickable!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – Restocked & Favorite Items

Hi, everyone! If you have talked to me in the past few weeks, you know I have been spending my entire life savings on things in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. BUT, I have been saving for this and these products on sale are all NEW items. While other stores mark down things they want to get rid of, Nordstrom marks down all these new things which is just CRAZY. And if you don’t take advantage of it, you’re missing out!

Anyway, below are some things I have actually bought and can review for real! Then down at the bottom, you’ll see a graphic of items that are back in stock and are not to be missed.

1. Halogen Corbin Slide Loafer

Order 1/2 to a full-size up (photo: LivvyLand) I wasn’t sure if I would like these but I am pretty obsessed and actually mad I didn’t get them in the black suede and leopard!

2. AG The Legging Step Hem Jeans

I wasn’t crazy about these because of the low rise and the paint distressing on them so I sent them back. Very soft jeans and I love the hem, but not for me. (photo: EmilyAnnGemma)

3. Citizens of Humanity Rocket High Waist Skinny Jeans

These jeans are SO flattering, soft and wonderful! I put them on and really did not want to take them off. They’re a little long, so I will either get them altered or cut them for a raw hem. (photo: The Sweetest Thing Blog)

4. AG The Legging Raw Hem Ankle Skinny

I sent these back as well. They are basically low rise jeans and I cannot stand that. I was really expecting to like the AG jeans after all the hype over them but I was not impressed at all (Photo: The Dani Austin)

5. Dreamers by Debut Cardigan

I ordered this in a Medium because that is all they had left and I was not a fan of the fit (plus it was wayyy over sized) but the material was pretty soft and the color was great. (Photo: Brighton The Day)

6. SPANX Faux Leather Leggings

I wanted these last season and the first time I ordered them from the sale, they emailed me and canceled the order…I was devastated. So as soon as they came back in stock, I snagged them. Really stoked about these! (Photo: The Dani Austin)

7. BP. Pocket Tee

I ordered this right away because I knew it’d sell out. And it did. There are a few colors/sizes left though and it’s a great basic! (Photo: Brighton The Day)

8. Lush Split Side V neck tee

I bought this in 3 colors because again, such a great basic. It has come in and out of stock several times, so I would keep an eye out. I got a small and would usually buy a medium in tees like this but small is perfect! (Photo: Style Cusp)

9. Barefoot Dreams Cardigans

You guysssss, these are SERIOUSLY the softest cardigans in the world. They seriously feel like butter haha. Highly recommend. I bought XS/S in both the hooded and circle version of these (in and out of stock – so stay on top of them). You will wear this over and over again, promise. (Photo: Style Cusp)

10. Sam Edelman Prentice Convertible Ankle Bootie

I bought these in the black suede (TTS) kind of expecting not to really like them but I am obsessed! I have been wanting Sam Edelman booties for a while and these are the perfect transition. (no picture here, sorry, couldn’t really find a good one and didn’t feel like taking one!)

Click the photos in the image below to take you to the products! If this post persuades your purchase at all, I would appreciate if you use one of my links to make the purchase! 🙂 Thanks!
